Hi

I've got a problem with my 1141+ ... most of the time it stays Offline in homeVisu Community Edition.
I use Linux and installation went pretty flawlessly. I can also send commands (I can here the device transmitting) but "connect" stays Offline most of the time. And when it is Online it does not last long - after a while (maybe 10-120seks) it is offline again.

The message is

Code:
connected to local port /dev/ttyS0
PLCBUS interface OFF or communication error

But anyway I can send commands and I can here (and see :) ) PLC doing what I expect (most of the time - to be serious sometimes I have to click 5 times until a light switches on, but that is another story).

Any ideas? Is my 1141 defect?

Maybe it disconnects because it does not get an answer from 1141?
It looks like there is no response from the device and the timeout causes homeVisu to disconnect.

Here is a typical output from the rx-tx monitor
Code:
10:22:10,308 - TX: 02 05 00 00 A0 00 00 03
PLCBUS interface OFF or communication error

10:22:23,886 - TX: 02 05 00 00 A0 00 00 03
PLCBUS interface OFF or communication error

10:22:27,630 - TX: 02 05 00 00 A0 00 00 03
PLCBUS interface OFF or communication error

10:22:29,814 - TX: 02 05 00 00 A0 00 00 03
10:22:30,327 - RX: 02 06 00 00 A0 00 00 1C 3C
connected to PLCBUS
run thread started

10:22:34,990 - TX: 02 05 FF 00 22 64 00 03
10:22:36,079 - TX: 02 05 FF 00 22 64 00 03

10:22:40,718 - TX: 02 05 FF 00 23 00 00 03
10:22:41,806 - TX: 02 05 FF 00 23 00 00 03

10:22:43,461 - TX: 02 05 FF 00 23 00 00 03
10:22:44,546 - TX: 02 05 FF 00 23 00 00 03

10:22:46,453 - TX: 02 05 FF 00 23 00 00 03
10:22:47,546 - TX: 02 05 FF 00 23 00 00 03

10:22:49,854 - TX: 02 05 00 00 A0 00 00 03
PLCBUS interface OFF or communication error
Disconnected

in words:

1.) I try to connect several times - after 3 failures it works.
2.) I am switching on A1 (Light) which works (but no response in rx-tx)
3.) I try to switching it off again which which again fails several times.
Finally it works but also the homeVisu status goes Offline again.

Don't know if it matters - I use /dev/ttyS0 ... so a "real" serial interface, not via USB or ethernet.
Any ideas? This is kind of weird.

Hi juxmw,

welcome to homeVisu.

First, how are your settings?
What kind of 1141 interface do you use - RS232 or USB?
Do you have activate auto connect?

Let me do some explains.
After successful connection homeVisu is checking connection while idle every 45 seconds.
If interface not response homeVisu goes offline.
The auto connect feature is trying reconnect to interface. Auto connect do also a connect after start up.

There is a known problem after start up and first connection. To get a connection you need two tries.
If you activate auto connect, homeVisu solve this problems by itself!

The 1141 plug can be also the problem.
1141 with German plug can plug in at two directions!
But only one direction works correct!
The PLC-BUS communication must be on the live line (L) and not on neutral (N).
Try to plug in 1141 up side down.

juxmw,

yes as I wrote there is a problem while connection –> activate auto connect.
This problem will solve at next version.

rx-tx monitor told; there is a communication problem, you do not receive any ACK!
If homeVisu do not get an ACK it sends the command twice.
In your case, the module receives the command and switching on light, but interface do note receive ACK

Here you can see a normal communication with ACK feedback.
Switching ON - OFF A1
Code:
connected to local port COM1
10:39:03,484 - TX: 02 05 00 00 A0 00 00 03
10:39:03,984 - RX: 02 06 00 00 A0 00 00 1C 3C
connected to PLCBUS
run thread started
10:39:15,562 - TX: 02 05 FF 00 22 64 00 03
10:39:16,078 - RX: 02 06 FF 00 22 64 00 1C 57
10:39:16,125 - RX: 02 06 FF 00 22 64 00 20 53
10:39:18,578 - TX: 02 05 FF 00 23 00 00 03
10:39:19,078 - RX: 02 06 FF 00 23 00 00 1C BA
10:39:19,125 - RX: 02 06 FF 00 23 00 00 20 B6

Check your interface plug!!

Hi homeVisu

Thanks for your reply!
For the first time since I have the equipment everything really works at the first command :) :D

What I did (and maybe it helps others):

* Re-Checked all electrical connections - meaning the electrical joints of the modules (re-soldered everything and so on)
* Plugged my Testboard and the PLC1141 to a different circuit - far away from my other electronic devices
1.) Un-plugged my PowerLAN - it definitly adds noise to the Power Line
2.) Used a different circuit than my office uses where I run several PCs, 2 Switches, Modems and other devices
* And finally - rechecked Power Plug - as homeVisu mentioned it can be plugged in the wrong way around (both - 1141 and my Testboard which also has a single Plug for all modules).
* Changed homeVisu settings to use AutoConnect (as explained above).

Oh - maybe I was replying to fast - still some connection issues from HomeVisu

Code:
11:31:18,070 - TX: 02 05 00 00 A0 00 00 03
11:31:18,566 - RX: 02 06 00 00 A0 00 00 1C 3C
PLCBUS interface OFF or communication error

11:31:29,952 - TX: 02 05 00 00 A0 00 00 03
11:31:30,451 - RX: 02 06 00 00 A0 00 00 1C 3C
PLCBUS interface OFF or communication error

It remains offline *but* I can use every module and there is still reply after each connection???

Any Ideas?

juxmw,

is it right, you using a test board with German power plug!

You must check if all modules and interface 1141 have L and N on right terminal!!
If there one module with wrong connection or 1141 is plug in wrong you will get communication problems.
Be careful with 1141, there are 1141 with wrong soldered wire on board inside 1141.
There is L and N interchanged!
You have to test which side of plug is for your 1141 the correct plug in direction.
You must also check your power outlet on which side is L.

Only if all modules and 1141 communicate on L, you will get a stable communication!

Hi juxmw

Enclosed the latest PLCBUS.jar.

This version is from the next homeVisu, coming next days.
This PLCBUS device driver has a new connection check.
So the ONLINE/OFFLINE problem must be solved.

Exchange this JAR against the old JAR you can find at subfolder “/devices”.

The next homeVisu version also fix the problem, where to copy RXTX files.
Many Linux users have this problem. Windows installer does this for you!
Now these files (.jar and .so) can be copied into homeVisu directory.

Hi homevisu

this looks quite good - pretty stable so far :)
Thanks a lot

Since I work in Linux 99% of all time I had no real issue installing a current rxtx lib, but this will make things easier for sure.

Would you mind having a look at viewtopic.php?f=19&p=94#p94 and provide me some infos?
